You probably have seen the many news reports concerning the large losses of honey bees. The term for this large loss of bees is Colony Collapse Disorder.
You want to do the Right Thing and SAVE-THE-BEES. You are looking for a Live bee removal specialists.
You are wondering why a Beekeeper won't come and remove the bees for FREE. After all, he/she gets to keep the bees, right? Here is why live bee removals cost money. Live bee removals are done by a registered and experienced beekeeper who may be insured, has the tools to conduct the removal, has the hive equipment and frames to house the bees. The beekeeper also has other expenses such as gas, ladders, and other equipment used in conducting removals.
Live Bee Removals Specialists are similar to other service professionals, who service pools, air conditioning and roofs. Live Bee Removal Specialists are professionals who deserve to bee paid for their hard work saving the honey bees. The live bee removal specialist must pay State fees to be a registered beekeeper in order to keep the bees once they are removed. Then they have to provide a state-approved hive and queen. Additionally, there are the expenses of their insurance, tools and time. Value your beekeeper as you would any other professional.
The Palm Beach County Beekeepers Association DOES NOT do LIVE Bee Removals/Relocations.
We strongly discourage our members who do not have the proper insurance and license from attempting any live bee removals.
We recommend that you contact more than one of the members listed below with a detailed description of your bee problem. With the understanding that they are independent contractors, with differing amounts of experiences and skill levels. Some on the list are companies while some are independent beekeepers.
Members, in order to add your name to the list above you must have your membership dues currently paid and complete a minimum of 12 hours of volunteer service annually to Palm Beach County Beekeepers Association.
Once the bees are removed, fill every crack or hole larger than 1/4 inch with caulk. Exisiting holes in walls with pipes or wires are great doorways for a new hive. Close up any space around the pipe or wire with insulation or caulk so the bees do not have access to a space.
