Join us as Paul Slayton talks about what is known about drone congregation areas (DCA's), and as importantly, what remains unknown. You'll hear about unique drone behaviors and physiology, and the importance of genetic diversity. We'll conclude with some practical advice for you, as beekeepers, to utilize knowledge of DCA's to better manage your colonies. It's a birds and the bees kind of talk -- but just with bees!

Paul Slayton is a Cornell-certified Master Beekeeper who recently moved to Sanibel FL.  He maintains colonies in central New York for honey and nuc production, as well as small-scale pollination.  He founded the Northern Dutchess Beekeepers Club in Rhinebeck NY, and is now a member of the Beekeepers Association of Southwest Florida.
