Join Chris and Iris Alonso of Alonso Apiaries for a hands-on workshop where you’ll learn the art and science of making cold process soap, a traditional method that produces long-lasting, soap bars made with natural ingredients. Participants will walk through the full soap-making process, from lye safety and ingredient selection to mixing, molding, and curing techniques. You'll not only learn how to make your own soap at home, but you’ll also gain insight into how beeswax and hive products can be incorporated for added skin benefits.

At the end of the workshop, attendees will receive:

  • A sample of the cold process soap (due to curing time, it may not be the same soap made during the workshop)
  • A bonus bar of hot process soap (pre-made and cured by the instructors)

What’s Cold Process Soap?

As you will learn in this workshop, cold process soap is made by combining oils and lye without external heat. As the mixture saponifies, it naturally hardens into rich, creamy bars. This method allows for complete control of ingredients and is perfect for making customized, skin-friendly soaps, especially when using natural additives like honey, beeswax, or botanicals.

What to Bring:

  • Apron
  • Kitchen gloves or latex gloves

  • Close Toe Shoes

Open to Members and their Family/Friends until June 30th.  After that, should there be availability, event will open to the public.
